Our annual event and services auction is our major fund (and fun) raiser for the year. It is held the first Saturday of November, from 5 to 9 PM. Join the team of volunteers that makes it happen!
It takes big vision planners, auction item soliciters, volunteer coordinators. We need volunteers to be in the Garden on Sundays for the two months prior to the event, data entry volunteers in the office for a similar period. Special help is required the immediate days prior to recieve, tag and organize art and material donations. There is a set up crew the night before. We need several teams the night of the event to make it flow seemlessly and keep everyone fed, bidding and having FUN, in addition to entering the winning bidders into the data base. At the end of the evening the clean-up crew is needed to tie and tidy it all up.
The sheets of what bidders have won, and the art and other material items are available for pick up on Sunday morning - and once again, volunteers are needed to help with distrabution.
This event is a long time congregation favorite - an evening not to be missed. Its ongoing succes as a fund and fun raiser is wholly the result of the generous donations of time, energy, goods and services of the members and friends of USSB.

Office Volunteers
Office volunteer jobs are a great way to get insight into how USSB accomplishes the many and varied tasks at hand and meet the staff, fellow members and friends of USSB. There is always something that needs to be done and much gratitude for those who are willing to help get it done!
Helping get mailings out in a timely fashion, keeping our website current, maintaining the organization of our storgage areas, computer data entry and coordinating special projects are examples of office volunteer opportuities.
We always welcome a smiling face and cheerful voice willing to help at the reception desk. The USSB reception office is open from 9 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday and Sunday mornings 9 AM to 12 noon.
Contact Carol in the office to find out what might best work for you.
Volunteer Opportunities in Religious Education
Would you like to…
Change the World in just 7 Sundays?
Have fun while exploring Unitarian Universalism?
Connect with our awesome USSB kids?
Consider Teaching in Religious Education!
We still need a few teachers to complete our 2011-2012 teaching teams!
This fall we will offer a new, multi-intelligence based, interactive religious education program for our children.
What is the commitment?
We like to staff each class with three teachers. This ensures that teachers lead class only once a month and assist once a month. The first Sunday of the month, children attend a children’s worship in Jefferson Hall. RE classes are only during the 9:15 service.
What do I have to do to prepare?
You receive training and a well-planned curriculum. For the one Sunday a month you lead class, you will need to familiarize yourself with the lesson you are leading and plan on arriving at 9am to prepare the room. If specific materials are needed (art projects, handouts), they will be ready and in your classroom.
Count me in! How do I sign-up?
Sign up at the RE table or contact LeeAnn Williams. Please let us know which grade you are interested in teaching and if you are available for the teacher training (see below).
