Concerts at the Unitarian Society



Violist Helen Callus

Friday, September 3 at 7:30 PM in the Sanctuary,

As the final concert In her “Bach Series”  violist Helen Callus will perform the last two of J.S Bach's six Suites for solo cello, No. 5 in C Minor and No. 6 in G major.  Also featured on this special event are outstanding graduate students Linda Shaver-Gleason and Jacob Adams, who will speak about the pieces. In her Bach Series, Helen has previously performed four of the six of Bach's Suites for solo cello in two concerts as preparation for an upcoming recording of these works.  

This is a free concert and a wonderful opportunity to hear this outstanding artist play in our sanctuary.  Helen is a professor at UCSB and leads the viola studio and in addition is very busy performing around the country and abroad.  Free will donations will support the music program at the Society.

 
September 11th Peace Concert

Saturday, September 11, 3:00 pm
USSB Sanctuary.

This concert will be commemorating the ninth anniversary of this historical date, focusing on bringing all communities together, and reaffirming our hope for world peace.

The program will includes well known soprano Carol Ann Manzi , the Inner Light Gospel Choir, and a flute duet with Shakuhachi (Japanese bamboo flute) and Native American flute.  Admission and reception are FREE. There will be more than 200 concerts throughout the world this year with close to 10,000 performers participating.

This concert is sponsored and organized by the Santa Barbara Sister Cities Board, the Santa Barbara Music Club and the Unitarian Society of Santa Barbara.
