The Unitarian Society of Santa Barbara has two Sunday morning services at 9:15 and 11:00 AM. On Sunday, September 5, Peter Hale will be our service host. The program is titled The Guest House. Rev. Aaron McEmrys will return to our pulpit on  September 12; his sermon is titled Where the Water Touches the Sand.

Sunday's Music features Ken Ryals singing And This is My Beloved by Wright/Borodin for the offertory and Christorher Davis playing Sonata Op. 27, No. 1 by Beethoven for the prelude and Summer by Joe Hisaishi for the postlude.

Violist Helen Callus Concert, Free. Friday, September 3, 7:30 PM, Sanctuary. As the final concert In her “Bach Series”, violist Helen Callus will perform the last two of J.S Bach's six Suites for solo cello, No. 5 in C Minor and No. 6 in G major. Free will donations will support the music program at the Society.

USSB Campout at Skofield Park Saturday, September 4, Labor Day Weekend; Join UU friends for an intergenerational campout at Skofield Park for the Labor Day Weekend on Saturday, September 4 and help Alan out by signing up early. If you don’t want to camp overnight, come spend the day and evening. This year we are asking individuals to contribute $10 to cover the cost of the campsite ($15 for families). Summer Sundays, 9:15 Service. Children will gather in Jefferson Hall following the Story For All Ages for Bubbles! with Astrid Nelson. Childcare is available for children under six in SK. This is our final Summer Sunday! Children’s RE classes begin September 19.

Ingathering  Celebration and Potluck
, next Sunday, September 12, Jefferson Courtyard. We will be have a fun filled potluck community time between our two morning services. USSB will provide the beverages and paper goods and fun, members and friends please plan to bring a GENEROUS potluck contribution to serve 8. Photo Directory–New Times Available! Sign-up online, to schedule an appointment to have your photo taken for our USSB photo directory, www.signup.olanmills.com. Many new times have been added and it is our desire that every member and member family participate. This is free; purchase of additional photos is optional. Assistance is available between services Sunday morning.

September 11th Peace Concert on Saturday, September 11, 3 PM, Sanctuary. Free concert & reception commemorating the ninth anniversary of this historical date and focusing on bringing all communities together, and reaffirming our hope for world peace. Sponsored and organized by the Santa Barbara Sister Cities Board, the Santa Barbara Music Club and the USSB.

Free Spanish Class

Religious Education Open House & Registration, Sunday, September 19, 10:45 AM, Jefferson Hall. Parents of children of ALL ages (babies to teens), grab a cup of coffee after the 9:15 service and head on down to this mandatory meeting to learn about our religious education programs, meet our RE teachers, and register your children! Help Wanted for Rhinoceros Play: Our USSB Players are back at work preparing their modern interpretation of Rhinoceros, the strange and wonderful allegorical play by Eugene Ionesco. Performances will be Friday and Saturday, October 22 and 23 at 8 PM., plus a matinee on Sunday, October 24 at 2 PM. There are openings for a one female lead (18-30 yr old) and two supporting parts (one female, one either M/F).

Prayer Workshop will continue this fall on a drop-in basis, once a month, on the first Wednesday of the month starting October 6 from 7-8:30 PM in La Paz Lounge. The workshop will again be led by Diana Cecala, a new member on the Worship Committee, and continue to explore different types of prayer and different ways of praying all oriented around the worship theme for the month chosen by Aaron. Childcare, community gathering and dinner ($5.50/head) and brief worship all available. Please join us. We welcome those who have never prayed and those who pray regularly.
