Choir Concert 2014Music at USSB is a vital component in our worship services. The mission of the music program is to create through music an atmosphere that inspires the congregation and promotes spiritual growth and reflection. Through a diversity of repertoire, style, language and presentation, the program offers music that integrates mind, heart and soul.

All music at USSB is worship driven and all support the various thematic issues of each service.

We have three choirs that share the musical responsibilities for most services. The three main choirs – USSB Women’s Chorale (SSA), USSB Chancel Choir (SATB), and USSB Men’s Ensemble (TTB) are all non-audition groups. Consequently, the membership has a wide range of ability and still maintains a high performance standard. USSB Men’s Ensemble is directed by USSB Member Robin Montz. For more information about our choirs, including rehearsal times, visit here.

When it comes to music, performance and worship are threads apart. We believe that worship music comes from a different more personal place, and it is from that place – where musical perfection is measured by how many people are changed because of what they have heard.

The success of the USSB Music Program is due in large part to the collaborative effort of the USSB staff, including the choir director, the singers and other musicians, and the congregation. The Music Program is a ministry based on sharing the joy of music. As the flame brings the chalice to life, music illuminates the tapestry of our lives.
