Lessons by Age Level
Our youngest children are taught by a paid staff person. Gabi Reyes has an undergraduate degree in early childhood education and a master’s in education. We have a paid staff member in this class because teacher continuity is very important at this age.
Using Chalice Children, our preschoolers focus on character, values and the rituals that guide our faith traditions. You may read the curriculum here.
Kinder to First Grade Class and Second to Fifth Grade Class
Our elementary aged children are lead by dedicated volunteers and explore the same thematic topics that are explored in worship, small group discussion and adult religious education.
These themes include:
- Abundance – November
- Hope – December
- Intention – January
- Perseverance – February
- Balance – March
- Emergence – April
- Healing – May
- Joy – June
Middle School: 6TH – 8TH GRADE
Our middle school youth meet weekly for social events both within and outside of the church, and spiritual and religious discussions.
This is also the time when many of our youth take part in our Coming of Age program. This program pairs youth with an adult mentor who meets with the youth on a regular basis discussing faith questions. The program is designed to firmly launch our young adolescents on a lifelong path of personal spiritual exploration. The program concludes with a worship service devoted to acknowledging the completion of this important program and welcoming the youth as members of the church.
YRUU – YOUNG RELIGIOUS UNITARIAN UNIVERSALISTS
In YRUU, high school students gather to explore and share their questions and answers about life, relationships, spirit, and social justice. Activities include camp outs, retreats, social outings, guest speakers, worship and involvement in church and community service projects. An annual mission trip is a high point of the year. This program meets on Sunday afternoons from 12:15-1:30 in Blake Lounge.
