Other Programs for Families and Youth
Family Fun Night is a quarterly social time when families come together to enjoy a meal, make crafts, play a few games, and otherwise build community. Watch your weekly church email for information and to sign up to participate. Most of these gatherings occur on the second Friday of each month.
Post Service Picnic Play Date Let’s talk and relax while our kids snack and play on the playground. Bring a picnic and a picnic blanket or chair and we’ll converge on the Starr King Upper Playground to relax and chat after second service on the fourth Sundays of the month.
Parents Plus is a monthly group that meets to discuss faith topics, parenting and includes not only parents that are currently raising children but also a sprinkling of our awesome elders that can provide a long range perspective.
Our Whole Lives is a human sexuality program for children and youth. It is offered semi-annually for pre/k, elementary, Jr. High, and High school. The next offering is set to take place in January 2020 for the k/1 & Jr. High levels.
Coming of Age is a program for middle school youth that helps to firmly launch them on their personal spiritual exploration. Youth attend focused classes that help them hone their ideas about Life’s Big Questions, and are paired with an adult mentor for discussion and exploration. The program concludes with a worship service devoted to acknowledging the completion of this important program and welcoming the youth as members of the church.
Young Religious Unitarian Universalists, or YRUU is our high school youth group, primarily focused on social justice. This program is a very important as youth develop a sense of themselves as full Unitarian Universalists engaged in the world.
